New Wholesale Blanks!

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is feeling better than I am. We live in Montgomery, AL, so the weather is “cray-cray” as they say. One day it’s 30 degrees and the next it might be 80. We’re back to pretty cold and cloudy today so my sinuses are a mess, I can’t breathe and I haven’t slept in 2 nights. I’m a little jacked up right now on DayQuil and Starbucks so pray I sleep tonight!!

I did some shirts last week and had to share this one. This customer of mine is very specific and EASY and this was her idea, not mine! She wanted a double circle with this cute Tricycle fabric in the middle. I’m guessing she has pants or shorts to match. Sorry the photo isn’t great, but you get the idea. I just merged 2 circles together in Sew What Pro. Getting the size right was a little tricky and luckily it worked out with the tricycle.

Super cute fabric! I thought I had some to tell you what it was, but I can’t find any and my customer has already picked up (it was her fabric). I’m guessing Fabric Finders?

IMG_7134

I think in the past I’ve done something similar with this fabric (below) using a rectangle patch and one of the cars, buses or bicycles. If you have fabric similar to this and can’t find the right design to match, consider using your fabric in a patch!

Jeff & I went to a friend’s 40th birthday party this past weekend, and the theme was 80s & 90s. It was HILARIOUS! The music was great too! Jeff rounded up his outfit and sporto-rolled his old jeans, and I hit Walmart (yes, Walmart) for most of mine. I hate you can’t truly appreciate the banana clip in my hair! My top was neon pink and actually glowed in the dark. Did we really dress like this?? We are headed to an 80’s Prom party next weekend so that should be fun too. I found a dress on Etsy and can’t wait to get it. Think MAUVE, huge puffy sleeves and a huge bow across the back!

Now on to a NEW BLANKS supplier. I got an email a week or two ago from Blossom Blanks based out of Birmingham, AL. Jenny offered to send me a few blanks to try out and I got them yesterday. They are really cute! I was going to do a few samples on them and post then, but decided to go ahead and post some photos today. A little info on Blossom Blanks ~ they are a family owned business based out of Birmingham, AL and at this time they are strictly wholesale (business license and sales tax ID required). Their shirts are 100% organic cotton and very soft. With any cotton there is some shrinkage and their sizing accommodates for that. Right now they offer long sleeve tees for boys and girls and onesies (long sleeved). They are taking pre-orders for short sleeve tees for boys and girls (ruffle) and onesies and also baby gowns (late February) and girl angel sleeve tees (March). They only offer white at this time but intend to add color as they grow! Check out their website for their Gallery of photos and for more information!

Here are my pics, and again, it’s a little cloudy today so take that into account!

Again, check out Blossom Blanks for more information! You’ll find a size chart and can get pricing information as well as see photos of some cute kids in these blanks! They are also on Facebook.

Don’t forget that our Applique Cafe sale ends tomorrow (Thursday, 1/24)! We listed 5 new designs yesterday shown below.

    Hi Rosemary,
Love the pics! I’m sure you had a great time at the party! πŸ™‚ I have a question – hope you or someone out there can help. I am setting up a home based embroidery business and finding that to purchase wholesale, I need a sales tax I.D. number and/or Federal I.D. number (these may be the same – that’s about how much I know about all this). I have a business license but need a little more information on sales tax/Federal I.D. number. Do you have any insight you can/will share, please?
    Thanks so much!
    Lesa

    • I think it depends on where you live? I am not sure! I would think if you got your business license you’d have to have a tax ID??

    • Lesa,
I used to work for an accountant. Federal ID and sales tax ID are two different things and a business license is different, too. My suggestion would be to go to an accountant and have them point you in the right direction or get you set up as every state is different regarding sales tax. There can be penalties down the road if you don’t handle sales tax correctly-at least here in Arkansas.

        Hi Kim,
Thanks for the info! Next on my agenda is to visit with a CPA…probably should have started there! πŸ™‚
        Thanks for replying!

  2. I always enjoy a post from you; so helpful. Where did you find the children’s form?

  3. I have been reading your blog for a couple months. My MIL has used several of your designs on clothing for my girls and we just love them. Our current favorite is the snowlady.
Also, I finally put two and two together. I remember my cousin’s wife (Amy) telling me a couple years ago how a friend of hers got an embroidery machine and ended up turning it into a business of selling the designs. I saw her pics of her birthday party this weekend on FB, so I guess you are that friend.

  4. Hey- I have a federal tax Id.Those are very easy to get. It is good so you CAN buy things you need and get a tax deduction however, I think its mainly so the IRS can keep up your taxes.lol!

I was wondering, I don’t have a business lic. I’m figuring those are expensive? What other place do u find is a reasonable place to shop for blanks?

Thank you- love your blog, & I LOVE the tricycle design.Super cute. I think being able to add fabrics in the middle is a wonderful idea!

      Hi Jennifer,
My business license only cost $15.00. I am in a small county in west TN.
      Lesa

      • Jennifer,

Here in Calhoun County , Alabama your Business License cost depends on the amount you grossed in your business the year before. Just go to your county licenses office and inquire. They will give you just the information you need.

  5. Hey Rosemary,
Do you know where that tricycle is from and who makes that fabric? That is too cute!
    Thanks!

  6. I love your blog!! I think everyone in Alabama is feeling the same way!! I am from the Lake Martin Area, crazy weather (: I enjoy your blog way too much, good to know you are so close to home!! thanks for all the help

  7. I love your designs, and my little niece has enjoyed having them on her clothes. I am having a bit of a time trying to decide what to do for her St. Patrick’s Day outfit. Last year, I made her a little green/white gingham jumper with leprechauns on the pockets. I have purchased several of your designs already, but just can’t quite decide on an outfit. Do you have any inspiration for me?

  8. I just got a brother 6500 I really do love it . I have sewed all my life and am 59 now, Worked all the time as my kids come up .My mother and dad got down and couldn’t stay by there selves any more so I moved them in give up my job to take care of them. We lost dad in oct .Now I need to make my sewing into a little income. Can any one tell me how to get started. At my age it is hard to find work . Also still have my mother to take care of.

    • Spread the word that you are doing embroidery!! Tell friends and family!

    • If you haven’t already get a Face Book page and tell what you are doing and ask all your Face Book friends to share this with all their Face Book friends. The word will get out and you may just wind up with more than you can keep up with. Also post pictures of your handiwork. People love to see your designs and the results of your work

  9. Just came across your blog; it’s awesome! I’m very much a newbie and have a question about shrinkage and prewashing. You mention above that Blossom Blanks takes into account the shrinkage when sizing their clothing. Do you prewash these before monogramming? It seems like monogramming the unwashed item will result in the design curling up if the item shrinks. I had this happen on a piece of cotton fabric I was practicing on.
