No Hablo Espanol!!

Have you wondered where I have been? South of the border! Jeff & I got back last night from celebrating our 10 year anniversary (which is actually in May) in Los Cabos, Mexico! We had a fabulous relaxing fun time and here are just a FEW of the 80+ photos I took which I will not bore you with today. Guess what, when word gets out that you are celebrating something, the kind folks in Mexico take notice! This was after dinner on our first night at Edith’s (sounds like E-deets) in Cabo San Lucas. These guys came out of nowhere, sung a song for us, threw some sort of margarita-ish type shot down our throats, shook our heads and wiped our mouthes clean. Sound scary? We thought it was quite hilarious! The food was amazing. Edith is a smart woman! She also owns The Office which is where we ate Saturday night and was even more fun and delicious (pics later).

This was us on our way to check out and head to the airport yesterday (insert sad face). We stayed at The Westin which was fabulous. Highly recommend it, as it was recommended to us by several friends. Please excuse Jeff’s dorky backpack!

I ate enough guacamole and pico de gallo for everyone who might be reading this and 2 of their best friends. It was YUMMY! The food there was excellent (except for 2 minor meals which were not great for various reasons). Lots of great seafood and margaritas for days.

This was the beautiful view from our 7th floor balcony. We slept with our door open every night, saw several WHALES out in the water and even saw a Sea Lion one day too. The water was cold and too rough to get in, but the view was amazing and the pools weren’t too shabby! We stayed in the resort hotel, but what you see in this pic to the left are condo type time shares. They looked very mexican-y.

I have tons of pictures and will post a few here & there. We got back last night and guess what folks, we now move on to the next phase of our crazy April, which would be MOVING WEEK! I took a load of my fragile pictures over earlier today as well as a load of stuff I got at Target. We’ll take another load this evening and keep doing so all week. The moving truck comes Saturday, but we will hopefully move quite a bit before then (clothes, my sewing stuff, etc). I’m so so sad to be leaving this neighborhood, our friends that live here, our carpool, and this house that we’ve lived in for 9 years. All 3 of my precious children were born and came home to this house. It holds lots of memories! But, I’m excited about our cute little rental house (aka our “summer home”) and also praying hard for our next house which we hope to find over the next couple of months. Yes, moving twice, but we want to take our time and find the perfect home!

Back to work…. on something…. not sure whether to unpack, pack, take a nap, load up the car, stuff Easter eggs or wash more clothes….

  1. Great pictures…beautiful place. The guacamole looks incredible! Hubby and I are going to Cancun in late May….never been so I need some feedback as to what is there that I should not miss…..did you do any shopping? Have I heard that jewelry is fun to buy there?
Hope your move is “crisis free”…..sounds like you have everything under control…..I know you will feel better when you are settled in…..
    Happy Easter!

    • We did shop in Cabo San Lucas and also in San Jose del Cabo. Lots of jewelry (mostly silver) and lots of pottery (that mexican pottery), glassware (some you might find at Pier 1). I bought a couple of pieces of pottery just to keep. Most places will haggle and you can pay less. Some bug you to death though so you just have to ignore them and walk by.

  2. Good luck with the move. We moved last year out of our first home after living there 8 years and bringing 3 babies home to. We also rented and then built our dream home in which I got my very own sewing room! (Love it)
I will go ahead and warn you, it will be very emotional to leave your “home”… I boo hooed and when someone came in and found me saying goodbye to my kid’s growth chart on the wall in the closet, I was sobbing so loudly I couldn’t control it. We still ride by the old house now and again and time has healed my sadness, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. Just be prepared to be sad for a while! Also, hope your rental is better than mine was. We found a copperhead in the house the first night we moved in… Needless to say it was a nightmare! :0)

    • I know I’ll be sad! Cringed at the snake – I HATE SNAKES!!!!!!!!!! The rental house is pretty cute. Nothing I would pick out but it’ll do for a few mos! I did cry already after we signed the contract! HA!

  3. How beautiful! Looks like you had a great time in Cabo! The pic is breathtaking! I went to Cozumel when I was 18 and it was great! It’s such a neat experience to go to places like that! I am glad I went because a year later I was in a car accident that has left me partially paralyzed from the waist down. Sandy beaches and wheelchairs don’t really mix, lol, so I am even more grateful to have gone and experienced that!

Good luck with your move! We are in the Navy and move every 2-3 years. It’s such a pain even thought the Navy pays for it and the packers pack up our house for us, but it’s still no fun and very stressful!

I love reading your blogs and LOVE your designs! Thanks for both! Wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect home soon! =)
