The Trash Can Mystery!?

This is one of those posts that will fall under the category “very random“!! This is what we wake up to at least a morning a week. This week it has been the scene the past 2 mornings. Our trash can is normally against the storage room doors, so SOMETHING is coming to the trash can at night and pulling it over. Remember, the trash can is against the doors, so IT is not pushing it over, it is pulling it over! Luckily most mornings the lid is still intact and trash isn’t everywhere, but a couple of mornings this wasn’t the case. We live on a ditch, so I’m assuming it is some type of animal? It’s not windy enough to blow it over and I don’t think anyone is living in my storage room?

I honestly didn’t think too much about it until we saw THIS on the news not too long ago. It was a news story about Coyotes coming to town and Bob Howell, the anchor of this story, lives in my neighborhood! He tells of scaring off a coyote in his front yard who happened to have his poor little kitty in it’s mouth! SOOOOO… is a coyote doing this? I DON’T KNOW!?!?!? It’s freaking me out! This morning I woke up at 4:30 and was thinking about my trash can. I walked across the house and looked out the window and it was indeed fallen over as above! I guess we can try to find some type of motion sensor camera and set it up like detectives? Or Jeff & I can take shifts one night and sit and watch? I guarantee you I will go to bed tonight thinking about this!

Our house showed today and we went to a Valentine party at my church, so everything had to be cleaned up and I didn’t get home until after 1:00. I didn’t bring everything back out yet and instead laid on the couch and watched The Bachelor on TIVO. Back to work tomorrow! I have several items that have to be done by the weekend and 3 more AC samples to sew! If you have any ideas about the trash can, do share!! If we figure it out, I will share!

  1. We live in Florida on an Air Force Base and have a problem with black bears, believe it or not. So bad in fact that the base replaced all of the regular green trash cans (like you show in your photo) with “bear proo” cans. Basically, the lid locks so that a bear can’t get into the trash can. Crazy, right?! Luckily, we’ve not seen one since we moved in but when I saw your post, it made me think of them.
