Wasted Fabric (insert sad face)

I monogrammed these kitchen items this week and I thought they turned out neat! I can’t say that I’ve ever monogrammed an oven mitt before, but thanks to my fast frames I was able to add a little somthin-somthin to these otherwise khaki everyday pot holders (from Target)! I like the deep dark brown on the khaki – very Tuscan!

This week we had the pleasure of taking care of G’s class pet, Chester! I have to say it was actually fun keeping up with Chester and taking pictures of what we did. Jeff & I got a kick out of the fact that Chester spent the weekend in Mobile at Mardi Gras (with a classmate), then in this picture Monday night we are heading to church to our annual Missions Conference. From Mardi Gras to church is a little funny!? Eh? As you can see he is strapped in with “Bear”, another family animal. Seatbelt safety is key!

Chester learned about the upcoming mission trip to the Amazon!

Yesterday Chester went with us to take B to school, then to Chick Fil A and to see Dr. G for M’s 3 year checkup! Chester went back to school today but we got to journal about our time together. Mallory woke up a little sick today so I blame the CFA playground! Of course she could have gotten a bug at church, school, the Dr. office, Publix or any other number of places! She stayed home from school today and had a good nap and appears fine, but our morning was a little rough!

Now to the title of my post… am I the only one that totally wastes fabric every time I do an applique? BTW this is Riley Blake Quite Contrary fabric (love)! This is the AC Mermaid design.

So I trim around the “tail” of the mermaid and look at all the fabric I have left! Total waste of my favorite fabric! It has HNBL on it so I’m not sure if I can save it, but may keep it laying around in case I need it!

I’m working on some “work” today for the first time in about a week (other than the pot holders). I feel so distracted lately and it’s hard to get anything done! I spent the morning washing clothes and cleaning up the house. Plus, it was raining and storming so I was afraid to turn my machine on. Next week is Spring Break and the boys are in art camp 3 (half) days, so hopefully I can hunker down and get my work done! It has piled up on me and I have a couple more “jobs” coming in. That may be all I can do for a while. As it gets closer to the end of school the less time I will have! As I type this the phone just rang about another job. One more!! OK that may be it for a while! 🙂

Double Trouble!

As I mentioned in my last post, http://sewhappyblog.blogspot.com/ was behind the Sailboat Patch design! She sent me these pictures of what SHE did with the design and it’s so simple and cute! I’m sure the pin dot is some type of cute jon jon or bubble she whipped up! I envy people who can sew whole outfits…

And now to DOUBLE TROUBLE! While they are not twins, my youngest 2 are 21 months apart and they have a love/fight relationship. They can be playing “babies” one minute, and while I type this the 2 of them are snuggled up in my bed watching cartoons, but they also love to fight, push, hit, whine, tell on each other every 5 minutes and get in to trouble! Last night I found this in my kitchen:

At least they neatly lined up the evidence?? Here is suspect #1 caught in the act (below)! Believe it or not, I washed this dress and it actually came clean! On a side note, do you notice the 7 bangs Sissy has in all her pictures? These are grow-back bangs from where as a small child (seems like forever ago) she got a hold of some scissors and gave herself a little trim. One day they will grow long enough to blend in with the rest of her hair! In the meantime they tend to lay flat on her forehead and drive me crazy!!

“What Strawberries Mommy?”

Suspect #2. Notice the leaf by his foot and the strawberry around his mouth! Nice mug shot G!!

I have gotten very little work done this week! I managed to monogram a couple of things this morning, but have been otherwise shopping and getting ready for a girl’s trip to Charleston, SC! There are 7 of us gals who went to college together who are piling in a Suburban bright and early in the morning to drive to Charleston where we will meet up with another college friend and have a girl’s weekend we’ll never forget! We have discussed this trip for YEARS (every time we meet for dinner when everyone happens to be in town). We are finally making it happen and I can’t wait! I expect my cheeks to hurt by the time we hit Auburn (which is 45 minutes down the interstate). Pray for Jeff as he has the kids to himself all weekend. Luckily nothing is going on, so he technically doesn’t have to go anywhere until church Sunday morning. But, I know they will have a fun weekend and he’ll probably take him here & there and do more fun stuff with them than I would!

Celebrate!

First of all, I did this Three Fish design on a tee yesterday and I thought it was cute for summer! I was matching the red seersucker gingham shorts and happened to have the same fabric so I was able to pull it together! I love fish designs, especially for SUMMER! Is it summer yet??? Spring?? I’m ready!

I just marked all Applique Cafe designs down 40% off in celebration of President’s Day and also the fact that we’ve exceeded 3,500 Facebook fans! We’re also celebrating my Mallory’s 3rd birthday today so I’ll throw that in there too. You can thank her for the sale!

Today IS Mallory’s birthday! Happy Birthday my sweet SISSY!! I can’t believe she is already 3 years old! She wasn’t up when Daddy went to work this morning so this is her talking on the phone to him. She was telling him “Mommy is taking my picture”.

Here she is with her Cupcake ‘3’ shirt I whipped up for her at 5:30 yesterday. You’d think I could plan ahead on a birthday shirt. I had this Carter’s tee in her closet with the tags on and it has that gathered place up top, so I put the cupcake sort of on the side and it turned out cute! Still talking on the phone w/ Daddy…

Last night we had the fam over for dinner so we did her cake then. The cupcake dress is from Belk (I didn’t make it!)

The 3rd child was a bit of a surprise for us. I always wanted 3 and Jeff was content with 2. However, she is the light of our home and we can’t imagine not having 3 kids and this precious little girl!

A closeup of the cupcake! Nothing fancy but it worked for school today!

I have some great post ideas and will work on those soon. I have 3 new designs to sample ASAP and a bucket of work to do, so off to work! Have a great weekend and the AC sale ends March 1st! Plenty of time to stock up on some designs for SPRING!
