one.of.those.days.

Yesterday was one of those days. You know what I’m talking about! The stress of house buying got to me around 11:00. I had a minor meltdown, then went to Mallory’s class party and the afternoon was more of the same. I found THIS in the kids sink. You might think it looks like a sink of simple bubbles. It took like an hour to get all the bubbles out! No telling how much soap was involved in this experiment.

Before or after the sink (I can’t remember), I heard a crash in the den and found THIS! I won’t name any names but my tallest child thought it was a good idea to lunge across the couch. Lamp hit floor. You know the rest! There is a huge gash in the shade from the broken lightbulb or else I would have salvaged it!

Why not top off this lovely day with some yummy Kraft Macaroni & Cheese for dinner? It’s what all moms look forward to after a day like today, right?? Especially on our good green plastic china!

Today has been a much better day. I try not to stress about buying a house but about every 5th day it all caves in on me. So many important decisions and I know GOD knows which house we’re going to buy and that “it’s just a house”! So far no bubbly sinks, broken lamps and I already know what we’re having for dinner and it ‘ain’t’ mac n cheese!!

On to fabric! A while back I won a contest because I referred the most people to a Facebook page! I got a gift certificate for winning, so I finally got around to ordering and I received my yummy fabric this week! LOVE.IT.ALL!! Because I need more fabric. Anyway, this all came from Whimsical Fabrics which is on Facebook and THIS website! Super cute stuff and it came all neatly and cutely packaged! I was going to write on the pics what each one was, but you can check out her website and see for yourself!

I’m a big fan of stripes and polka dots! Love the mod looking flowers too!

LOVE all of these and I made a thread order yesterday from Kens Sewing Center to add to my orange/peachy collection for some of these.

The middle I already had, but have used so much of it I ordered more. It’s from the Riley Blake Quite Contrary collection. These may actually be all Riley Blake? Not sure!

Love this cute stripe with the turquoise and red!

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my little ones. Browder finishes up next Thursday and then we’re home free for a couple of weeks until VBS. Looking forward to SLEEPING IN and not having to drag B out of the bed at 6:45 to get ready for school. Back to work!!

A Mess!

I titled this post “A Mess!” because Browder just saw this picture and said “that’s a MESS!”. This is a closeup of our new sewing room. It’s still a dining room, although it’s in our rental house which is temporary. The good news is that this “dining room/sewing room” is at the front of the house and not connected to a den like my old house. If I don’t see it every day, maybe I won’t spend 5 hours a day in there checking email and piddling. Lots of work to do…

Here is the room. Jeff is setting up shop in here too, so we will now be working in the same room, together. We used to be around the corner which annoyed me to no end, because I’d be working on something and I’d get a summons from one of the kids that daddy needed me to see something (a design) so I was constantly back & forth. We’ll see how this goes…

I snapped this photo Friday as we were moving all of my FABRIC. Please note that I bought ANOTHER 3 drawer bin at Target last week because although these are slam full, I have several more baskets of loose fabric. My goal is to ORGANIZE ALL OF IT!

The movers moved us officially Saturday and we are pretty much settled other than the above sewing room. I like this little house and the kids love it too! But, it’s only temporary. Our search will begin this week for “the next house” and hopefully my kids won’t be scarred or too confused by moving twice in a matter of a couple of months!

We hope to have some new designs THIS WEEK! Easter & Cross designs are still 50% off (for next year?) and all other designs are 30% off until May 8th!

Wrapping it up!

(Whine alert) First and foremost, it has been “one of those days“!! A little rainy and chilly and a lot of YUCK! I could feel my stress level rising this morning as I spent 2 hours answering emails and resending designs while trying to finish ONE shirt so I could mail it. One day I’m going to count the number of emails we get a day JUST through our AC email. I’d be willing to bet it’s several hundred (during a sale week). Jeff checked them when he got home around 1:00 today, and by 3:00 there were already 67. No complaining (well, a little), but I get stressed out with it when I’m trying to work and spend that much time going through email. It’s my fault for checking it! Jeff agreed to take over email for a while so I can focus on other things ~ finishing my work (see pic below), getting ready for Operation Moving Sale (THIS Saturday!!) and everything else on my plate (worrying about moving)! We’re glad to resend designs all day long, but lately we either get short emails with no information in them (which means a lot of back & forth and time spent searching) or we get 6 emails in 5 minutes from someone demanding their designs. Most days it makes me happy to answer those emails and be “of help”, but every now & then I want to scream!! 🙂 Love y’all! 🙂

Here is the one shirt I was trying to finish this morning so I could mail this order back to it’s owner. She sent the skort for me to match and asked for the Kite. I think it’s an Okie Dokie skort which may have come from good ole JCPenney?

Here is Spiderman. He has been “in costume” since last Thursday. At 7:02 am this morning he was already in costume. This is a new thing. Don’t you love the collared shirt underneath (see the neck?). G needs a haircut! He hasn’t always been a dress up kind of kid, so I’m not quite sure where this came from?

Tonight added to my fabulous day. I was trying to finish up ALL of my orders and on this 2nd Target dollar section bag, I sewed the thing shut!! I knew it was sewing funny but I thought it was because the bag was wrinkled! I had to cut through the zipper to get it off the fast frame! ARGH!!! Hopefully I can find another one.

Nice huh? I learned my lesson!! We learn from our mistakes, right?? These bags have a football on each end. Pretty cute! I think they were probably $1 or $2.50!

Here is the last of my work!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 more things (5 if I find the replacement bag). I got a lot done today! Tomorrow I have a girl coming from Columbus to meet with me on her machine and then hope to FINISH all this. Next on the list, we’re having a moving sale Saturday morning so I need to start cleaning out and getting ready for that. We’re getting rid of a few rugs, some furniture, Sissy’s crib I think, and whatever else I can find! Tonight we went through the puzzle cabinet so some of those are going to go missing by Saturday. I have a few friends coming to participate so it should be lots of fun! I love a good yard sale, and where we move may not allow them so this may be it for a while!

Someone asked me today if I was quitting! While some days I want to yell “I QUIT!!!!“, I am not quitting. I’m just taking a break at least for a few weeks until we move (in to an apartment temporarily) and get settled. I will still be working on Applique Cafe designs. I just won’t be taking customer orders until our life is a bit settled. Did I mention we are moving in to an apartment? We found a 3 bedroom with a study (aka teeny tiny sewing area) so hopefully we’ll move in there, create some fun memories and find our next house SOON! One of the main purposes of moving was for me to get a real sewing and work room, so I’ll be back to work in no time!

Our home inspection is tomorrow at 1:00, so wish us luck!
