My tutu post!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon outside. Jeff did a little mowing, the kids did a little playing and I pulled weeds (yipee). We also all took a walk around the hood ~ we started out w/ Sissy in the buggy, G on his bike and Browder on his scooter. By the time we got home Browder & Sissy were in the buggy with the scooter in the back, G was walking and I was pushing his little bike! It was beautiful weather and my start to training for a September 5K (I need A LOT of training and believe me, walking around the hood was a start!!). I couldn’t resist taking pics of Sissy in between pulling weeds. She doesn’t play dress up ever, but decided to wear this tutu all afternoon and I LOVED IT! She rode her tricycle with it on and even rode in the buggy with the tutu on as well as a Princess helmet. These are the moment that I love having a little girl!!

Another tutu – this is a new AC design I just sampled and it will be listed soon along with several other new ones! There is a lime satin stitch “band” underneath my bow (that I pinned on for the picture).

MORE TUTU!!! How cute is this gator!! The girls at Bayou Belles and Beaus emailed me about advertising today and after some back & forth, we agreed to try them out for a month as an ad sponsor on my blog. As you can see I have added their button on the right with my other sponsors and I also posted on my Facebook page about their page and added their link to my favorites on Facebook. Did you get all that? I jotted down on my pad of paper that they had 350 fans when I mentioned their page on my page. I just checked and they are now up to 408! They have some cute smocked dresses and other items! Check them out!

The boys had Art Camp this morning and my inlaws took Mallory for the morning too. They didn’t come home til 2:00 so I was able to WORK (for a change) and got all of the below done (with a lunch break to Mama G’s and Nancy’s). These are all Applique Cafe designs and I did all of the onesies using my 4×4 hoop. I did use a 5×7 hoop on the bibs. The lion font is Tipsy (monogram wizard plus font) and the others are done in MWP Atilla. Some I made skinnier and the golf green I curved the name. The cowboy boot bib is MWP Simple Script which looks cowboy-ish to me!

I did these 2 last week ~ also AC designs. Fonts: Mermaid is Sunny MWP and Flip Flops is Kim MWP!

I also had someone comment about brown thread. These are the 2 I use the most. The left is your basic chocolate brown and the right is a deeper darker brown. I have a few other weird browns but rarely use them!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A SPONSOR AD, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT rosemarygulledge@gmail.com!

My favorite thread colors!

Here is a birthday gift I did for one of G’s friends. Might as well utilize my talents! This is a beach towel from Target ($6.99) and a little pool toy to go along with it (because let’s face it, a 5 year old is NOT going to get too excited about a monogrammed beach towel). These are great little beach towels and I love the orange on the lime & white stripes!

Happy Spring to me! A week or so ago I asked Jeff to vacuum our nasty den rug. He then asked me when the last time I used our vacuum cleaner was. I couldn’t remember, so I gave it a whirl. I could barely push it! Our poor poor cleaning lady!! She’s been schlepping that thing around for who knows how long and you could seriously barely push it! So, I took a poll on Facebook and most recommended Oreck or Dyson in the realm of vacuum cleaners. We have an Oreck store near my house (2 doors down from Tips, our fave mexican restaurant) so we ended up with the Oreck. Who knew a new vacuum cleaner could be so exciting? Oreck’s selling point is that they are SIMPLE and lightweight! Sold!! Jeff asked me last night if I was going to store it in our garage like we did the other old vacuum. I thought Browder’s bed might be a better choice based on what we paid for it! But, it’ll be well worth it and should last forever!

And now to the embroidery part of this post. THREAD COLORS! Did you know that some stores sell ACTUAL thread charts (with real life thread samples)? I got the Isacord chart from www.sewingmachine.com (West Point store) when I was there in October. I got the Exquisite (formerly Poly-X) from www.kenssewingcenter.com (may not be listed on their site but call and see if they have any). They also sell (or give away?) printed thread charts, but ask for a REAL thread chart!

As you can see the samples are real pieces and the red * means they are available in 5000M spools (versus 1000M spools or the regular size spools). Again, Exquisite is the new name for Poly-X and the thread numbers are the same. The spool is still green; the only difference is the sticker on top is white now and says Exquisite.

My boys assisted me (on this windy day) of showing you the whole chart! The Isacord chart looks the same! I use and love both of these brands and highly recommend them! A lot of my 1000M spools are Poly-X and most of my 5000M spools are Isacord. Again, I love both!

Here are some of my favorite colors! The left is a celery green and I use it all the time! It DOES NOT come in the 5000M spool, so last time I reordered it I got 5 X 1000M spools. That’s how much I use it! I would call it a pea or celery green. The middle is that watermelon-y pink color – it goes great with the Riley Blake Quite Contrary fabrics. I also use the ES983 with the Quite Contrary green fabrics. The right is a good darker lime?? green.

These are all Isacord. Lime green (dark), turquoise and a butter yellow (not bright yellow).

Pinks are HARD! 2520 is a great HOT PINK, 2530 is a good BUBBLEGUM PINK, 2560 – a little lighter bubble gum pink and lastly, 2155 is a light pink but has some yellow in it. The middle 2 have some blue in them I would say. I use them all quite a bit! Again, all ISACORD below…

Lastly, more ISACORD. The left lime is my FAVORITE! Unfortunately it’s one of those that doesn’t come in a 5000M spool and I buy it locally at Kudzu Quilt (Bernina dealership/quilt shop). Middle – that great light turquoise/tealish color. We all know I love orange and this is the orange I used on the beach towel above.

We are now officially off for SPRING BREAK! We celebrated after school at Nancy’s Italian Ice. If you look at her website that is my oldest front & center. He ended his 7th birthday party at Nancy’s last May and we frequent there at least once a week. I go hang out there with the kids when my house shows and have been known to plug my phone in the wall and sit for a while. We love some Nancy’s!

I have one more shirt to do for the day so back to work… hope the thread post helps! I will touch on some other colors another day!

What is your Spring color?

Here are several new Applique Cafe designs we’ve done in the past few weeks….

First, School of Fish.

Second, Easter Train.

Third, Beach Truck.

Fourth, Add a Birthday Hat.

Lastly (and listed just this morning), Sailboat Patch. (BTW, I believe the fish fabric is called Snorkel? I bought it at InTown Quilters in Decatur, GA).

Do you see anything in common with all of them, besides the fact that they are all very much color coordinated? I am digging ORANGE for spring!! I’ve always been a green fanatic! I love everything green (I took after my Grandmother!). G has green walls (and B did too before he got ‘big’). Sissy’s room is pink & green. I like green clothes, M’s green crocs and the list goes on and on! But, I also love orange for spring and summer (and Auburn football) and especially for KIDS!

I’m not sure if you pay attention to the menu on top of my blog? One of the reasons I changed over to WordPress was so that I could have this menu. Home is home (duh!), about is about me (I need to add a photo), recommendations is my list of software recommendations (Sew What Pro, etc) and as you see below, LINKS is my list of online fabric resources and also clothing blanks (tees and fancier stuff). I get this question a lot and have found myself copying and pasting this link on Facebook a lot lately (mostly people looking for blanks), so I thought I’d point it out! This list is miniature I’m sure to what all is out there! If you have a favorite fabric website, please share it with me! Blanks too!

And case in point, my website and blog are both GREEN with a hint of ORANGE!!

Here is a precious cute outfit I had made for Sissy. I also have orange gingham ruffle pants  ~ both pants and shorts match another top I bought from someone for like $10 to cover the monogram on and use for M. Check out sewhappyblog.blogspot.com. I’m almost afraid to advertise her b/c she may get too busy for me! Carrie was also behind the cute Sailboat Patch design and I can’t wait to see how she does it (with 1 fabric for the boat I believe).

So here are some of my favorite fabrics to work with. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these Fabric Finders 1/8″ ginghams! They are so soft and thick and are great for appliques! I also have many many many other Michael Miller Ta Dots (red, pink, green, etc) but I love these colors for spring also! Again, the Ta Dots are super soft and thick and GREAT for applique!

Do you have a blog that you can’t go a day without reading? If so, share it with me! I love my little blog list, but some people don’t post as often as I need want so I find myself wanting more on my list to read and “gain inspiration” from! It doesn’t have to do with embroidery or monogramming or applique! As I keep seeing on Facebook, TIA (Thanks In Advance)!!
