Dear Diary,

It has been wayyyyyyyy too long since my last entry. Life is crazy. Love, Rosemary

Gosh, how do weeks go by without me sharing with you all the excitement of my life? Easily I tell you! A) because like I said, life is crazy. B) because said life is not that exciting. This past weekend we went on our annual camping trip to FDR State Park near Callaway Gardens, over yonder in Georgia. The first year we went, there were 3 families and we only took Browder. Mallory may not have been alive at the time? Anyway, our group has grown over the years and this past weekend we had 10, yes 10 families, camp out for the weekend. You may count 11 here, but that’s only because an extra family met us at Callaway Gardens for the day Sunday. 10 families = 22 KIDS! The Gulledge camping motto is “We only bring some of our kids” (seriously, we have a plaque). Mallory did not go, but maybe next year. We had a BLAST!! We’re talking tents, campfires, smores, tromping through the woods to the bath house, and every meal with 42 people. This is something that hopefully these kids will never forget!

This was our “Church in the woods” service Sunday morning. How could you NOT spend 3 days in the woods and not PRAISE GOD!! It was really beautiful! I am a city girl all the way, but it’s almost a necessity to escape to the woods for a few days at least ONCE a year.

Remember the “I will flush” saga of October 2012. Fast forward to November, and you will find the “I will hang my towel up” saga of 2012. I thought it was working, until this morning I found a wet towel on the window seat that had been there all night long….. This is my exciting life!

I have been doing quite a bit of work the past few weeks and here are some of the tees I’ve done. I’m about to wrap things up for a while (no more work). This is the Embroidery-Boutique Chunky Alphabet that I use and post about a lot. I used Monogram Wizard Plus Library font for the E & J beside it. I use this font a lot as well!

Here is the Applique Cafe Dinosaur 3 design and I can’t really capture in a photo how cute this is on a red shirt! These are Old Navy tees btw. They are super soft!

Our new Zig Zag Reindeer design which is super cute and zig zag is a lot faster than satin. This was a tricky shirt to do ~ I chose to center the reindeer with the initials off to the right side. It’s easier said than done b/c my machine automatically centers the entire design. More on that later if I ever figure out how I did it!

Our Dog Truck design. I love red and brown on gray!

Lastly, here are some burp cloths I did recently for a friend who was giving them as a gift to twins. This is our Flower 5 design and it looks great w/ initials inside (Monogram Wizard Plus “Master Circle”). I use Master Circle ALL THE TIME as well! This fabric is Robert Kaufman Bright Spot On.

Thanksgiving is next week! Applique Cafe is having a “Give Thanks Sale”. Thanksgiving designs are 1/2 off (Halloween too ~ they are categorized together). The rest of our designs are 35% off through Thursday, November 29th ~ www.appliquecafe.com

Above is our Frame Patch 2 design with MWP Camp font. I just got the Camp font not too long ago and I like it! Here are some of our new designs we’ve listed recently, and we hope to have several more ready this week!

You can find all of our new designs by clicking ALL DESIGNS on our website.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Congrats to our Fabric Giveaway winners ~ Sally T., Teela F. & Penny W.! I mailed your fabric today so you should get it by the weekend! Since the comment response was so fabulous, we also drew a few Applique Cafe winners ($10 voucher code) ~ Judy P., Sarah and Anna!  The fabric winners also received a voucher code. Thanks to all of you who took the time to read my blog, Like The Sewing Room on Facebook and comment! Michael Miller and Riley Blake should have NO WORRIES. Recession or not, these guys are sellin’ some fabric! Moda, Robert Kaufman and a few others aren’t eatin’ Ramen noodles either!

Here are a few more great fabrics from The Sewing Room. LOVE the tone-on-tone pink Chevron (Riley Blake)!

Some great dots, love the aqua swirly fabric (I’m thinking snowman patch) and more Chevron!

Tone on tone Chevrons from Riley Blake.

They also have this great leather. I have not used it yet but it would be great for football designs!

Here are a couple of shirts I did yesterday. Another toolbox! This will go with some red cord and blue gingham pants.

What do you do if you want to put Santa on a white shirt? Put him on a PATCH! This is our circle patch. Actually, most anything looks cute on a patch!

This is our Santa design. I used white chenille for the hat trim and white minky dot on the beard.  I get asked a lot if I use Heat N Bond Lite on minky fabric. The answer is: Yes I do! I iron it on lightly, peel the paper away and place it down for the design. When I got done with this shirt yesterday, I ironed over the gingham and head of Santa on this design and then ironed it inside out to “fuse” the beard. As you can see no dots disappeared.

Back to sampling some new Applique Cafe designs. Remember our Fall Sale is going on through Thursday, November 1st. 40% off Halloween & Thanksgiving designs and 25% off everything else.

Design Time

Happy Friday! It’s a happ’nin Friday night at the Gulledge house. Jeff & the eldest Gulledge went to a football game, Sis passed out watching a movie and is asleep in bed and I think G is still clinging to the movie. Here’s a quick little blog post with what I’ve been up to these days. I’m a HUGE fan of Pinterest. I get on there every day and drool look waste time and get ideas of things I’ll never do or make. Except for this time! I went to Hobby Lobby the other day and wandered aimlessly for like an hour trying to figure out what to do on my front door for fall. I’ve had this old Market Basket from the old Southern Living At Home forever. I remembered having pinned a similar basket on one of my Pinterest boards, so I pulled it up on my phone and gathered similar fake stuff to put in my basket. Gwallaaaa!! I think it looks pretty good! I especially love the brown seedy looking things! Thank you Pinterest!!

I also did some “work” this week. I have found that I can get a lot done IF I JUST STAY HOME! I have a tendency to go by Starbucks, wander in to Target, stop by here and there and then my time is up, I have to pick up the kids and afternoons are crazy. This week I was a smidge under the weather so I just came home and worked during the morning hours while the kids were in school. Here are a few shirts I did and we all know I love SIMPLE! This is our Zig Zag Dump Truck design. These shirts were all Circo from Target ~ toddler sizes.

I love this one! Our Cowboy Boot 2 design. The font is Monogram Wizard Plus “Camp” which I bought this week and have already used it several times! Super cute! The photo is a bit fuzzy but this is a red and brown and white tri-check, I THINK from Fabric Finders? Could be wrong on that.

And our Tool Box design with MWP “Easy” initials.

I just love working with corduroy!

And lastly, this is Embroidery-Boutique’s Chunky applique alphabet. I use it ALL. THE. TIME, especially for boys! As the name states, it’s chunky so it shows off a lot of fabric!

When I first looked at this green shirt I wasn’t sure what to do with it, so I decided on the initial “C”. When I started looking through my boy basket of fabric, I found TONS that went with it! I had a hard time deciding which one to use. This is for a 3 yr old little boy so I figured the little cars would be great! All of these cute fabrics would have gone great with it. Again, these are Circo shirts from Target!

In case you didn’t know, we’re having a FALL SALE at Applique Cafe through Thursday, November 1st. Our Halloween & Thanksgiving designs are 40% off while all other designs are 25% off. Below ~ again, my new MWP “Camp” font! It was a $10 font but I think I’ve already gotten my money’s worth!

Here are our new designs which will be listed probably tomorrow (Saturday). Christmas Tree 6, Dinosaur 3, Stocking Dog and Loopy Angel.

Have a great weekend! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post for a chance to win some FABRIC!! Last time I checked we had over 430 comments!
