(Whine alert) First and foremost, it has been “one of those days“!! A little rainy and chilly and a lot of YUCK! I could feel my stress level rising this morning as I spent 2 hours answering emails and resending designs while trying to finish ONE shirt so I could mail it. One day I’m going to count the number of emails we get a day JUST through our AC email. I’d be willing to bet it’s several hundred (during a sale week). Jeff checked them when he got home around 1:00 today, and by 3:00 there were already 67. No complaining (well, a little), but I get stressed out with it when I’m trying to work and spend that much time going through email. It’s my fault for checking it! Jeff agreed to take over email for a while so I can focus on other things ~ finishing my work (see pic below), getting ready for Operation Moving Sale (THIS Saturday!!) and everything else on my plate (worrying about moving)! We’re glad to resend designs all day long, but lately we either get short emails with no information in them (which means a lot of back & forth and time spent searching) or we get 6 emails in 5 minutes from someone demanding their designs. Most days it makes me happy to answer those emails and be “of help”, but every now & then I want to scream!! 🙂 Love y’all! 🙂
Here is the one shirt I was trying to finish this morning so I could mail this order back to it’s owner. She sent the skort for me to match and asked for the Kite. I think it’s an Okie Dokie skort which may have come from good ole JCPenney?
Here is Spiderman. He has been “in costume” since last Thursday. At 7:02 am this morning he was already in costume. This is a new thing. Don’t you love the collared shirt underneath (see the neck?). G needs a haircut! He hasn’t always been a dress up kind of kid, so I’m not quite sure where this came from?
Tonight added to my fabulous day. I was trying to finish up ALL of my orders and on this 2nd Target dollar section bag, I sewed the thing shut!! I knew it was sewing funny but I thought it was because the bag was wrinkled! I had to cut through the zipper to get it off the fast frame! ARGH!!! Hopefully I can find another one.
Nice huh? I learned my lesson!! We learn from our mistakes, right?? These bags have a football on each end. Pretty cute! I think they were probably $1 or $2.50!
Here is the last of my work!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 more things (5 if I find the replacement bag). I got a lot done today! Tomorrow I have a girl coming from Columbus to meet with me on her machine and then hope to FINISH all this. Next on the list, we’re having a moving sale Saturday morning so I need to start cleaning out and getting ready for that. We’re getting rid of a few rugs, some furniture, Sissy’s crib I think, and whatever else I can find! Tonight we went through the puzzle cabinet so some of those are going to go missing by Saturday. I have a few friends coming to participate so it should be lots of fun! I love a good yard sale, and where we move may not allow them so this may be it for a while!
Someone asked me today if I was quitting! While some days I want to yell “I QUIT!!!!“, I am not quitting. I’m just taking a break at least for a few weeks until we move (in to an apartment temporarily) and get settled. I will still be working on Applique Cafe designs. I just won’t be taking customer orders until our life is a bit settled. Did I mention we are moving in to an apartment? We found a 3 bedroom with a study (aka teeny tiny sewing area) so hopefully we’ll move in there, create some fun memories and find our next house SOON! One of the main purposes of moving was for me to get a real sewing and work room, so I’ll be back to work in no time!
Our home inspection is tomorrow at 1:00, so wish us luck!
Rosemary! I’m so excited about ya’lls house! I feel like I’ve been praying that it would see FOREVER and it’s finally coming true! You’re designs are so cute, and your blog is great! I love reading about you guys! If there’s anything that I can do to help this weekend with the sale, just let me know!
Fingers crossed that all goes well on the home inspection!! Exciting times, but I know it can all seem very stressful when you’re in the thick of it! Hang in there! 🙂
Will you be selling any sewing or fabric items?
My son loves his Spiderman costume! He wears it all the time.
I hope the inspection goes well!
No, I’m not selling any sewing stuff!
How normal and de-stressed you make me feel when you share your mistakes with us! Thank you! It really is comforting to know that these mistakes happen to everyone….I made a few this weekend while appliquing and I was so mad….I always think I have every base covered and then something goes wrong…..my thread breaks or the stabilizer did not reach far enough….I love your blog and even more your willingness to share yourself with us….Thanks again! Keep it coming!!!
I agree with this comment! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one that screws up sometimes. Onesies are so hard for me because I get so wrapped up in what I’m doing that I forget to check the underside often enough and it only takes a few seconds to stitch the back to the front! My biggest fear is someone giving me something to applique that they bought from somewhere and accidently ruining it! Just out of curiosity – what do you say to someone if you mess up something of theirs? I wouldn’t even know where to start! :-/
Luckily my mess up was a dollar section Target bag! I told the lady that I had sewn it shut and that I was going to go to Target to find a replacement. I am always honest with my customers and if it’s a simple Target t-shirt that I know I can replace, then no need to tell them. But, if it’s something you can’t replace then you have to tell them and then try to find the closest thing! 🙂
I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one who has “I QUIT” moments lol! I hope everything went well with the home inspection and I’m so happy you guys sold your house! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
